  • The distribution and parameterization model of the solar radiation through cloudless atmospheres were examined by using meterological data (temperature, dew point temperature, pressure, visibility, cloud amount, cloud type and horizontal global irradiance) of the recent decade (from 1985 to 1994) at KMA (Korea Meteorological Administration) and the four-year data (from 1991 to 1994) related with horizontal global, direct beam and diffuse irradiances at KIER (Korean Institute of Energy Research). The results of this research are summarized as follows: (1) The total yearly mean horizontal global, direct beam and diffuse irradiances measured in Korea were 0.54 MJ/㎡·hr, 0.35 MJ/㎡·hr and 0.23 MJ/㎡·hr. The horizontal global, direct beam and diffuse irradiances were analyzed seasonally. Results showed the horizontal global and direct beam irradiances to be greatest in spring and smallest in winter and the diffuse irradiance to be greatest in summer and smallest in winter. The distribution of horizontal global irradiance in each observational station showed a high value toward the South, but at a same latitude Mokpo, Kangnung and Chunchon presented a low value to the high visibility, humidity and cloudy amount. (2) Mean bias errors (MBE) is -0.961 and root mean square errors (RMSE) is 1.01. The correlation coefficient between calculated and observed horizontal global irradiance for cloudless sky at KMA was 0.94, and the correlation coefficients between calculated and measured horizontal global, direct beam and diffuse irradiances for cloudless days at KIER were 0.96, 0.85, and 0.80, respectively.
