  • In case of thick-walled components of high temperature facilities, failure can occur due to the crack(which is initially existing or developed under service) growth which is driven by creep crack growth mechanism. Failures of this kind are frequently observed in components fabricated by welding. For welded components, it is a general case for cracks to be developed and growing in the HAZ which is much weaker than parent metal and weld metal. Therefore, life assessment of crack growth in HAZ is important for residual life prediction of high temperature plants. In this study, the crack growth problems in HAZ mentioned above were investigated experimentally with 1Cr-0.5Mo steel. Relationships between creep crack growth rates of weld crack and <TEX>$$C_t$$</TEX> parameter or <TEX>$$C^*$$</TEX>(t)-integral were measured. The proposed creep crack growth model may be applicable to life assessment of the weld interface crack. (rdf:langString) (en)
