  • In this paper, some mesh quality improving schemes for automatically generating optimal quadrilateral finite-elements based on the looping method are presented. The artificial mesh boundary scheme, a boundary post-enveloping scheme and the boundary mesh refinement scheme are proposed with application examples. A new approach to nodal coordinate optimal placement for dealing with the geometrical problems due to the mesh quality improving schemes as well as improving mesh regularities and aspect ratios is also presented. Several application examples are given, which show the effects of the presented mesh quality improving schemes. (rdf:langString) (en)
