  • A high-speed digital distance relaying algorithm using artificial neural networks is presented. The proposed artificial neural network models are trained with the input patterns of distorted signals within a quarter cycle data window and with the target patterns of real or imaginary values of power frequency components of the signals. For the sake of simple training process, the data used for training are obtained from simple functions instead of simulations for power system faults. The artificial neural networks play a role of dc-offset removing filter and Fourier filter. In accordance with a series of tests, the operating time of the relaying algorithm is less than 4.5[㎳] after faults in a 80[㎞], 154[㎸], 60[㎐] over-head transmission line system. (rdf:langString) (en)
