  • In this paper, the basic concept of a new finite-element approach to automatic simulation of forging process based on a nodal coordinate design scheme was presented. In the new approach, a whole forging process is automatically simulated by the initial mesh system with node relocation without remeshing and the problems due to remeshing can thus be avoided. The nodal coordinate optimal design scheme, provided the motive of the new concept, was introduced in detail. A typical application example was given, which shows the applicability of the new approach. A rigid-viscoplastic finite-element method was employed for this investigation. (rdf:langString) (en)
